Claiborn Wamsley came to Monterey in June of 1950. He became president when Mr. Keitzer retired in December of 1953, and continues to serve as our Chief Executive Officer. The Bank has grown from $25,005.00 to $240,000,000.00 in deposits. “Clip” clerked sales, prepared taxes and kept books for others in order to provide income for his 2 employees. Today the bank employs 56 people. We have not been market aggressive and believe our growth springs forth from the deep roots planted that summer day in August 1910.
